The death penalty. Here is a topic that has travelled through centuries without a wrinkle and without losing its intensity. The death penalty has always aroused the greatest passion among criminal lawyers, criminologists and even people. And for very good reason! The death penalty is in total contradiction with the human rights, and particularly the most fundamental to all and concerning each individual: the right to life.

Consequently, should Capital Punishment be part of the punitive Arsenal of a state?

While not a scientific or criminological study, this work tries to answer this question, or at least to lead the reader to contemplate, make an opinion, by giving the reader guidelines of thinking and research. Thus, it is not about a plea against the death penalty, nor even to excuse the committed crimes, or worse yet, to forget the victims of these. Quite the contrary! Progressively the reading makes everyone wonder about his/her opinion on Capital Punishment, as well as to understand the law enforcement system to best able to protect and can then identify with one of the two sides, abolitionist or partisan.
